Job Title: Chief of Staff Support Supervisor - Senior Leadership Team - Counter Terrorism Policing HQ
Salary: The starting salary is £38,926, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £ 35,998 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £38,523. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a support role to the CTPHQ Chief of Staff Superintendent. This role offers a unique and wide ranging array of work related activities, linking with the National Counter Terrorism network that covers England, Scotland and Wales together with partner agencies and international partners. The Chief of Staff also holds responsibilities for HQ related coordination and oversight tasks covering the five MPS Specialist Operations OCUs being SO15, Parliamentary and Diplomatic protection (PaDP), Royalty and Specialist protection (RaSP), Protective Security Operations (PSO) and Aviation Policing (AP). The support role is focussed on supporting the overall problem solving and improvement regimes that fall to the Chief of Staff and is particularly suited for those looking to widen their strategic perspective and understanding.
Key Tasks
The roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- CTPHQ welcome day event coordination and management.
- Development and coordination of staff and officer HQ induction/welcome briefings
- Development and delivery of employee engagement development activities, including regular Staff engagement event coordination and management.
- Coordination of the SO and CTPHQ coaching and mentoring process.
- Staff survey coordination and development work, specifically for CTPHQ but also across all SO OCUs, to identify trends and deliver change on those focus areas
- Direct support to the SO IDE Board, with regards action coordination and specific recruitment, retention and workshop/survey/project work
- Environmental and local scanning of issues, both internal and external.
- Discreet project support based roles, as evolving within the CoS pillar, for example with regard to HMICFRS CT thematic inspection coordination
- Assistance with various communication channel content and coordination, both for HQ and potentially wider (SO or Network)
- Supporting the Wellbeing Lead for CTPHQ, assisting in event planning.
- Collating and updating input to the ongoing Risk monitoring processes as required within the Chief of Staff pillar.
- Coordination and monitoring of certain AMM activities as required within the Chief of Staff pillar responsibilities
- Support in administrative coordination of SLT and SO COG meeting and ‘Awayday’ activities, including research and development tasks.
- Providing direct support to the private office teams as required.
- Providing operational support (coordination centres/cells) during critical incidents.
- Liaison with MPS CDI directorate
- Liaison with MO6 re cross portfolio aid.
- Adhoc operational project work.
- Update and maintain CTPHQ Structure Chart
- Attend meetings, online and in person, to take minutes
- Line Manager responsibility of Band E/PC
- Deputising for Chief of Staff – chairing meetings/leading panels
- Direct support to ACSO/Director General
- SPoC for Operational and Health & Safety Risk Assessments
- Liaison with CTPHQ H&S Team and support to H&S meetings
Vetting
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.
This post requires British nationality (some dual nationals may be ineligible) and an Enhanced Security Check (eSC)/Developed Vetting (DV)] clearance.
As the post holder will have access to very sensitive information, there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries and we will undertake additional security checks as part of the recruitment process.
