Strategic Communications Officer - Hybrid Working

We’re looking for a talented and experienced Communications/PR Officer to join our award-winning Corporate Communications team.

In this role, you'll help shape and deliver innovative campaigns that engage our internal workforce, external communities, stakeholders, and partners.

As a Strategic Communications Officer, you’ll play a key role in developing and delivering impactful tactical communication plans that support both internal and external audiences.

Your work will directly contribute to safeguarding vulnerable people, preventing crime, and driving positive change in culture, perception, and behaviour.

You’ll be part of an experienced team of strategic communications professionals and collaborate closely with colleagues across the wider department - including specialists in media relations, internal and digital communications, multimedia content creation, events, and graphic design. 

In this role, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Deliver creative high impact communications including proactive campaigns and PR support for local problem solving, using effective, audience-led communications tactics to meet defined objectives.
  • Generate compelling written content for media and marketing materials including but not limited to press releases, website articles, social media posts, marketing materials.
  • Keep abreast of communications and marketing trends and developments, sourcing inspiration and expertise from a variety of sources and sectors to maintain an innovative and award-winning approach. Embrace a culture of learning and continuous development.
  • Engage and build effective relationships with key stakeholders and partners to maximise communications reach and impact.
  • Attend and present at meetings within your areas of responsibility to represent the Corporate Communications department. 

We’re looking for a passionate and creative communications professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is motivated by the chance to make a real impact on important and sensitive issues - including Violence Against Women and Girls, criminal exploitation (such as County Lines), and knife crime.

We’re keen to hear from individuals with fresh, innovative ideas on how to engage effectively with our diverse communities across Avon and Somerset ensuring we communicate on the issues that matter most to them.

You’ll bring excellent written and verbal communication skills, a sharp eye for detail, and the confidence to build strong relationships with stakeholders and partners.
