Our in-house recruitment team play an important part in ensuring Avon and Somerset Police continue to deliver an outstanding police service to our communities.  We are responsible for recruiting talent into the organisation and providing a professional and efficient recruitment service for our hiring managers. 

An opportunity has arisen within the Talent team to take on the role of Recruitment Attraction Specialist. This is an exciting time to join our Talent team as we are embedding a new structure which has seen the implementation of several key roles which will help shape and develop the Talent offering and service we provide to the organisation, our stakeholders and the public. We are in the process of embedding our vision for an outstanding Talent service and the 2 year strategy which underpins this vision.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity where you will work alongside our Talent Engagement Specialist,  our Talent Inclusive Attraction specialist and within the Talent team. You will play a pivotal role in helping us to shape our attraction methods and ensure all of our recruitment processes are inclusive and fair.  We're expecting this temporary contract will be for a minimum of 12 months, however, it is likely that this could be extended dependent on organisational need.

Your role will involve:

  • Talent Inclusive Assessment Specialist support: Working with the Talent Inclusive Assessment Specialist, you will support the creation of interview and assessment materials that are inclusive and transparent. Support the implementation of new initiatives such as the Apprenticeship scheme, Police Promotion Process and support existing initiatives such as the SEND programme.
  • Talent Engagement Specialist: Working with the Talent Engagement Specialist, you will support the development of our recruitment and marketing strategy as well as assisting in creating new materials used for recruitment and selection advertising purposes. Building and maintaining positive working relationship with our website team and Corporate Communications department.
  • Attraction: You will also be required to attend recruitment events, such as Job Fairs, Open Days, Information Events and Assessment Centres.  These recruitment events help to expand your knowledge, are a great way to help develop additional skills and add variety to the role.  Sometimes these events are held outside of your normal working hours therefore flexibility in start and finish times would be required. 
  • Performance & Development: Ensure your own continuous professional development within Talent whilst encouraging and supporting team members to learn and develop. Support Talent by embedding the force values and growing our service offering to the organisation.

We are seeking a resilient, forward-thinking and highly motivated team player who to be successful in this role will need to:

  • Be an excellent communicator with a passion for providing first class customer service. 
  • You’ll need to be able to work to deadlines and prioritise your workload, working with the team but also independently.
  • You will need to have experience within a customer service role or within recruitment and thrive in a busy working environment.

You will need to hold a full current driving licence or be able to travel around the force area using alternative transport.

Additional information

This is a blended working role, therefore you will have the opportunity to work from home and also at Police Headquarters, Portishead. This role works office hours, and to support events and recruitment activity there is the requirement to work outside of office hours including evenings and Saturdays on a regular basis, across the force area. Flexibility in start and finish times would be required.
