We are looking for Designing Out Crime Officer who will provide advice and recommendations on planning applications to promote and develop the secured by design objectives. You will also give specialist crime reduction advice to victims of crime and vulnerable communities, including businesses and organisations.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide advice and recommendations on planning applications to promote and develop the Secured by Design objectives.
- Support colleagues and partners through offering specialist advice to reduce crime, harm and demand through effective problem solving.
- Provide specialist crime reduction advice to victims of crime and vulnerable communities, including businesses and organisations.
- Consider opportunities to secure external funding where appropriate, to further develop crime reduction and problem-solving opportunities.
- Keep up to date with developing technologies and changing crime types to be able to provide best possible and current advice Force wide and to Partners.
- Maintain impartial contact with security specialists and providers.
- Liaise with other forces and partner agencies to share best practice and deliver joint initiatives.
- Manage and progress multiple projects and initiatives at any one time.
- Deliver presentations to a range of audiences as and when required.
- Promote and maintain the Safe Car Park Scheme.
- Provide advice and mentoring to district staff and partners.
- Work flexibly across the Force area in support of colleagues and the ability to travel throughout the force area.
Skills and experience:
- Previous experience working in a crime and disorder reduction environment.
- Working knowledge of crime reduction strategies.
- Previous experience of using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Previous experience of building relationships and working with partner agencies.
- Holds appropriate Architectural Liaison Officer Qualification, or willingness to work towards achieving qualification within a specified period and hold appropriate Crime Reduction qualification.
- Knowledge of project management techniques.

Eligibility:
Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
