This post is an exciting opportunity to contribute to making our staff and communities safer by working as part of the Driver Risk Unit within Thames Valley Police.
Thames Valley Police is the largest non-metropolitan Force in England and Wales, covering the counties of Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and Buckinghamshire and serving a population of in excess of 2 million with an extensive network of roads and motorways.
Successful applicants will play a key part in assessing, managing or mitigating occupational road risk through the proactive use of police vehicle telematics and use of psychometric assessment processes in conjunction with action planning to improve driving standards through risk reduction / mitigation as a result of sustained behavioural change. This role will be responsible for utilising a sound knowledge of relevant legislation, relative occupational driving experience, policies and procedures to make sound proportionate and consistent judgements. They will ensure that where necessary, subsequent driver risk interventions are relevant and proportionate in order to identify, mitigate or remove continued occupational driving risk documented through clear and detailed rationale recording in support of the decision making processes.
The successful candidate will have recent experience of operational policing, investigation and risk management, together with a willingness to develop an in-depth understanding of the risks associated with occupational police driving. You should have a strong desire and proven experience of developing other people to achieve behavioural change and/or coaching that meets defined objectives and ensures valid and reliable assessment. Recent experience of police response and pursuit driving would be advantageous.
You must be self-motivated with an ability to develop yourself and embody the Code of Ethics, taking account of organisational needs and risk assessments; providing timely and appropriate advice and feedback (written and verbal); evaluating and presenting accurate information and ideas to people effectively and persuasively in accordance with current policy and procedures. Excellent communication skills & IT literacy are essential.
A full UK driving licence is essential. You may be required to travel to different locations across the Force.
