About the team/Department you will be joining:
We are a small team providing comprehensive Welsh Language services on behalf of South Wales Police.
We are committed to working towards the provision of a bilingual public service, leading by example and actively encouraging the use of Welsh internally - to increase opportunities to see, hear and use the language when conducting our business.
We work 9-5 Monday-Friday (flexi). This is a hybrid role based from South Wales Police Headquarters. The role may include some infrequent early morning, late night, weekend work and travel as / when required.

About the role and your key responsibilities:
We are seeking an experienced Welsh language translator to provide translation services of the highest standard in both Welsh and English.
You will require excellent communication, good administrative, record keeping and time management skills.
You will be required to process and return translation requests (written, proofreading / design and verbal as / where appropriate) in line with the forces translation guidelines.
Working closely with colleagues the translator role will have an integral part to play in supporting South Wales Police on its continued Welsh language journey. Providing access to a bilingual, engaging and user friendly policing service.
What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:
This is a Welsh essential post.
You will be an experienced Welsh language translator, educated to degree level, or equivalent, in the field of Welsh or be able to evidence proven recent experience as a Welsh Language Translator.
Membership of the Association of Welsh Translators and Interpreters and ability to provide simultaneous translation is desirable.
We are looking for someone who can work in a demanding hybrid work environment, confidently able to work independently and as a member of a team.
We are keen to hear from you if you are / have excellent oral and written communication skills, in both Welsh and English, proficient in Microsoft applications with experience of translation software packages and good presentation, excellent report writing and bilingual document design skills.
