Review, Retention, and Disposal Researcher
Job Purpose:
To research Warwickshire Police information systems to identify nominal records for review and/or deletion in accordance with legislation, Management of Police Information Code of Practice (MoPI) and Warwickshire Police policy and prioritised on the basis of risk.
Main Responsibilities:
- To conduct reviews of nominal records in accordance with the guidance on the Management of Police Information (MoPI) and Warwickshire Police policy.
- To recommend the retention and disposal of records.
- To maintain auditable records that underpin decisions to retain or dispose of records.
- To respond to queries and provide advice with regard to MoPI Review Retention and Disposal (RRD).
- To produce written and statistical reports as required.
- To ensure any changes to MoPI guidance, legislation or systems are incorporated into the Warwickshire Police RRD process so records continue to be managed in line with the updated policies, guidance etc.
- To liaise with business areas to ensure all records relating to a nominal record are disposed when the electronic record is deleted.
- To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.
Special conditions: Exposure to disturbing/unpleasant material.
Person specification:
Knowledge:
- A Level 3 or equivalent, qualification.
- Working knowledge of Police Information Management, the MoPI Code of Practice, National and local policing objectives and the Data Protection Act.
Experience:
- Experience of working within strict protocols using sound analytical problem solving techniques whilst recording progress and maintaining an audit trail.
- Experience of interrogating computer systems, conducting research and testing results for compliance.
- Experience of record retentions and review and quality control methodology systems.
Key Skills:
- Good interpersonal skills both written and oral and the ability to communicate at all levels.
- Ability to use a wide range of media including IT systems to maintain and develop standards of information recording and compliance with MoPI.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage competing demands in a multi-site, multi-functional organisation.
