2025 - Superintendent Promotion Boards
Gloucestershire is a largely rural county with two large urban conurbations including the City of Gloucester and Cheltenham Spa. We are home to two Royal Households and a number of significant events attracting national attention throughout the year, including the National Hunt Festival at Cheltenham Racecourse and the Royal International Air Tattoo in Fairford. There is a strong military presence in the county as well as an important Government footprint.
We are now seeking a number of Superintendents and Detective Superintendents to join the Constabulary to help support this work and lead areas of command.
All Superintendent roles within Gloucestershire Constabulary are responsible for leading a large and/ or complex area of command which places responsibility upon them for the delivery of results in their area which contribute to the delivery of the force strategic aims, along with the Police and Crime Prevention Plan.
Gloucestershire Constabulary is launching a rapid improvement plan to drive fast paced change to achieve ‘excellence in the basics’. Under the leadership of T/CC Maggie Blyth and DCC Katy Barrow-Grint, the plan will focus our efforts on four clear priorities: investigating crime, safer communities, an efficient organisation, and ethical leadership. The role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of transformative change: bringing tangible benefits to victims of crime, the wider public, and colleagues within the Constabulary.
Applications are invited from existing Superintendents on lateral transfer or Chief Inspectors (who have more than 12 months in rank) on promotion.
