HP - Community Safety Mounted Volunteer
Role: Community Safety Mounted Volunteer (CSMV).
Department: CSU – Community Safety.
Location: North and North East Lincolnshire
Hours: Minimum 2 hours per week.
Contract: Volunteer.
Dress Code: Mounted Volunteer allocated uniform.
Humberside Police are looking for Mounted volunteers to patrol the community.
The aim is to provide reassurance to residents, promoting trust and confidence in the police, and enhancing relationships between the police and the community. Mounted volunteers actively promote crime prevention, road safety amongst the equine community, share information and report incidents of concern to help our rural communities to be a safer place to live.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in providing a high visibility mounted presence to provide reassurance to the rural community and help to be the eyes and ears of the community.
• Reduce the opportunity for crime by increasing crime prevention advice and awareness.
• Provide crime prevention advice where appropriate and report any unusual/suspicious activity and road-related matters.
• Engage with members of the rural community and help in developing positive relationships between the police and the community.
• Share information with Humberside Police and engage with the Rural Task Force, Neighbourhood Policing Teams and local farm/country/horse watch schemes.
• Attend community events and promote the role and raise awareness of equine and rural related crime.
• Update Duty Sheet with volunteer hours and activities
• Attend and complete relevant training for the role.
What the role requires:
• Own, or have access to, a suitable horse to undertake regular mounted rural patrols.
• Own, or have access to transport for your horse (required to undertake the BHS Ride Safe Award which is held at an Equine College within the Humberside area)
• An interest in preventing Rural, Equine and Wildlife Crime
• To be willing to undertake the British Horse Society Ride Safe Award
• Minimum 5 years of riding experience which includes both riding on a highway and rural (open farmland/bridleways etc)
• Willing to undertake a 2-day induction course and horse and equipment checks
• Willing to undertake training with the team at least twice a year

Pre – Employment Checks and Eligibility:
• Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria of at least 3 years continuous residency in the UK to apply for roles with Humberside Police.
• Successful candidates will undergo a vetting procedure pre-requisite of employment. (Please note, withholding any information asked by the vetting department, may delay the vetting procedure, or result in your vetting being refused and the offer of employment been withdrawn)
• Tattoo’s will be reviewed as a part of the recruitment process to ensure we maintain a level of professional standards and to make sure the images do not cause offence or are unacceptable.
• Your horse and stable/turnout facilities along with tack and riding equipment will be vetted prior to any offer of employment in the voluntary role, to ensure compliance with BHS guidance and Animal Welfare Legislation.
