Job Title: Business Delivery Programme Manager

Salary: The starting salary is £80,260, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.

The salary is broken down as £77,332 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £89,320 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: London and Hybrid (60% of your time you will work from a Met location, of which at least one day a week will be at your base location in Sydenham)


About the Role

As Business Delivery Programme Manager you will support the Deputy Director Programme Delivery on a day-to-day basis to drive the delivery of the New Met for London Plan across the organisation. This is a fast paced role in an incredibly rewarding part of the MPS, the Transformation Directorate.

The role will require you to work closely with, and alongside, project delivery professionals and operational policing colleagues to help deliver significant change across the organisation. You will be key in helping the Deputy Director Programme Delivery and Deputy Director Business Change to unblock issues preventing progress within our projects and supporting interventions to put projects back on track by using your proven hands-on delivery knowledge and experience in complex programme management delivery environments.

The role will provide you with a range of opportunities and experiences, it will require you to manage competing short-term deadlines at pace while managing the demand and deployment of skilled resources to ensure projects are set up for success.

As Business Delivery Programme Manager you will act on behalf of the Deputy Director Programme Delivery to deal with issues using judgement and experience to resolve day-to-day problems. You will need to balance competing priorities and use attention to detail to identify risks and manage or escalate those effectively. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with little oversight or direction. You will create strong relationships across the Programme Delivery cohort to help identify and mitigate issues, and work effectively with corporate structures and teams to manage and share information effectively.

Working closely with the Deputy Director Programme Delivery (who will line manage this position), you will use judgement and understanding of programme methodologies to clarify the need for specialist change support when requests are received, to identify best resource resolutions, and manage the utilisation and deployment of resources. You will also support in setting the career pathways, professional training and in identifying the learning and adaption needed to drive continuous improvement in the MPS professional capability. You will be required to deputise for the Deputy Direct Programme Delivery or represent their position at meetings.

To succeed, you will be a motivated self-starter, with proven experience of working in a complex delivery environment, and be comfortable working at pace in a large multi-disciplined organisation. You will be equipped with the interpersonal skills needed to build positive relationships, and influence, negotiate and challenge successfully across a range of internal and external stakeholders and partners. As the work of the Directorate is dynamic, you will provide a range of services including hands on delivery support, strategic advice and assuring change delivery across the portfolio. You will need to be adaptable to change, and be happy that elements of your role may change over time.
