About the team

The City of London Police is the designated National Lead Force for fraud and cyber-crime and is responsible for Action Fraud, the national fraud and cybercrime reporting service which also incorporates the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) and National Economic Crime Victim Care Unit (NECVCU). The City of London Police’s mission is to protect the public by preventing and disrupting fraud and cyber-crime through capable, coordinated, and effective policing

About the role

The post will be situated within Action Fraud (AF) and the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau’s (NFIB) project teams.

Action Fraud (AF) is the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) sits alongside Action Fraud within the City of London Police.

The NFIB receives all the Action Fraud reports. Millions of reports of fraud and cybercrime are used by the NFIB to identify serial offenders, organised crime groups and find emerging crime types.

The Test Engineerrole will be an integral part of the Action Fraud and National Fraud Intelligence Bureau projects including BAU/Transition, the new National Fraud and Cyber Crime Reporting and Analysis Service along with Victim Care (NECVCU, a national service provided to victims of fraud and cyber-crime).

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Work under the guidance of the Test Manager to deliver a high-quality output in a timely fashion.
  • Be responsible for day-to-day testing of the existing BAU/Transition project, on behalf of the SRO to ensure successful delivery of the existing system and contract requirements.
  • Carry out User Acceptance Testing (UAT), by working with the business to understand business scenarios, translating these into workable test scripts, through to execution and reporting.
  • Conduct daily Test Assurance activities in order to ensure the supplier side delivery remains on track and is of high quality.
  • Support any new suppliers in the integration, testing, go live and initial operation period of the next generation service.

Requirements

For this role, we need you to have:

  • Experience working across complex projects and demonstrate successful delivery of outcomes and benefits.
  • A good knowledge of test levels with focus on Systems, Systems Integration Testing and UAT.
  • Ability to create tests scripts from requirements or other documentation as necessary; manage and create a library of testing documentation.
  • Test execution experience, accountable for the effective management & resolution of defects and document test results.
  • ISTQB Foundation Level in Testing, or equivalent.

As part of the initial application process, you will be asked to evidence how your experience, skills, and knowledge demonstrate your ability to meet the person specification of the role.

The application and interview will be tested under Level 2 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.

Applicants who fail to address the skills/knowledge/experience of the job description will not be considered.
