The Northwest Regional Organised Crime Unit (NWROCU) is a collaborative multi agency covert response to tackle serious and organised crime across the Northwest Region.

The NWROCU Sensitive Intelligence Unit is part of the Sensitive Intelligence Network (SIN). The SIN is a collaboration of 22 Law Enforcement Agencies that includes, Police Regional Organised Crime Units (ROCU’s), NCA, BTP, HMRC, Police Scotland and HMPPS. 

The NWROCU SIU manages a range of sensitive information and data in support of N.I.M level 2-3 investigations. Applicants should be innovative and highly capable in the management of intelligence products, and the ability to interrogate Police Intelligence systems from all the six regional forces including PND and PNC,  

Applicants must have experience and knowledge of working in an intelligence environment and apply the principles of the National Intelligence Model. Moreover, to demonstrate the use of National Decision Model and the ability to identify and manage harm, threat, and risk. 

Effective communication skills are essential for this role and it desirable to have some experience of submitting telecoms applications under the Investigatory Powers Act (IPA 2016). 

The NWROCU leads the policing response across the region posed by Serious Organised Crime in Great Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria and North Wales. The NWROCU provides the vital link to National capabilities, enabling the Northwest to deliver the Government’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy.

For each vacancy the initial secondment period is for up to 2 years. This recruitment process is to fill immediate vacancies within the unit.

Successful applicants working within NWROCU will be subject to MV (Management Vetting) and enhanced SC Vetting prior to taking up post. Applicants will also be required to attend the College of Policing H5 course.    

The Grade of this role has been determined using the Merseyside HAY procedure and has been afforded a Merseyside Grade E. This equates to a salary range of £32,247 and £37,692.  Successful applicants from other Regional Forces will be paid a comparable salary based on their own Force pay scales. Applications received for Operational roles that require mandatory Officer Safety/First Aid training must hold valid in date training or able to undertake upon application.

This role works a shift pattern – the core hours covered will be 0700 – 2200hrs. There is also a need to work a rostered weekend, one in every six (0800-1600) and be part of an ‘On-Call’ rota system to provide a point of contact out of hours. This will be 1 week in 16. All shift working will be subject to shift allowance and on-call payments in line with current Force payment.

NWROCU is in the Warrington area, close to good public transport links and the motorway network.
