Volunteer Police Cadet Leader

Could you spare a few hours each week or month to guide and inspire young people across North Yorkshire?

We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our Police Cadet family as Volunteer Police Cadet Leaders, supporting and motivating cadets aged 13–18. Everyone brings something valuable to the role—your time, experience, and enthusiasm can make a real difference.

Our Volunteer Police Cadets programme teaches young people about policing duties, basic law, and life skills. Sessions combine practical learning with physical activities, drill, and visits from departments such as the Dog Section, Roads Policing, and Crime Scene Investigation. We also include team building, sports and community engagement to make the experience fun and rewarding for both cadets and leaders.

Could this be you? This is a fantastic opportunity to build leadership skills and positively impact the next generation.

We have multiple Police Cadet units across North Yorkshire that are recruiting for Cadet Leaders, so there is likely to be one near you! We are recruiting for Cadet Leaders at:

  • York: Thursday evening 6pm – 8pm
  • Harrogate: Monday evening 6pm – 8pm
  • Skipton: Thursday evening 6pm – 8pm
  • Scarborough: Monday evening 6pm – 8pm
  • Breckenbrough: Wednesday afternoon 1.20pm – 3.20pm
  • Catterick: Thursday evening 6pm – 8pm

Our units occasionally get involved in events such as community engagement events at the weekends. We really value different perspectives, skills, and experiences and we’re looking for people to come and support the cadets and deliver some fun and memorable moments!
