Salary: The starting salary is £59,839, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £56,911 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £69,342. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

You don’t need to walk a beat to part of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). As a Workforce Optimisation & Insight Lead, you’ll work behind the scenes, continually improving the country’s largest police service so we can do our best for London.
This is a chance to lead and develop the Workforce Optimisation and Insight function, driving effective processes, data integrity and governance. It’s an exciting role where you’ll work in a fast-paced environment, identifying and analysing key workforce data. Your goal? To identify opportunities for in-year efficiencies, assess outputs from scenario modelling, and scrutinise the impact of priority and budget changes to all resource plans. In other words, it’s an opportunity to deliver forecasts and models for c.50, 000 people in 70+ business units and operational OCUs, while supporting Corporate Workforce Planning and Insight.
A key part of the role will be leading and developing a team of workforce analytics and data modelling professionals, so it’s no role for a beginner. Together, you will support the delivery of the Business As Usual workforce supply through an in-year workforce and capacity plan.
At this level, you’ll need to be adept at statistical analysis, sensitivity analysis and regression analysis – but that’s not all. You’ll also need knowledge of data analysis tools and an interest in machine learning and AI technology. You also look for new and effective ways to deliver and create value for stakeholders and inform leadership decisions. Bold and inquisitive, you’ll be keen to interpret complex data into actionable insights with your formidable technical skills.

This is an exciting opportunity within the Workforce Planning and Deployment Team of the Metropolitan Police, supporting the direction for the Corporate Workforce Planning and Insight team, through delivery of forecasts & models for all c.50, 000 people into 70+ business units and operational OCUs.

Duties and Responsibilities –
Workforce Optimisation & Insight Lead works with data and colleagues to identify opportunities for in year efficiencies, analyse outputs from scenario modelling and impacts to all resource plans
- Support delivery of the of BAU workforce supply through the implementation and maintenance of an in-year workforce and capacity plan
- Lead and develop the Workforce Optimisation and Insight function, driving effective processes, data integrity and governance
- Test, challenge, and validate operational levers and metrics
- Identify and mitigate risks to workforce plans through data analytics
- Establishing data quality frameworks through defining and implementing data quality standards
- Champion effective governance and compliance for the Workforce Planning and Deployment team
- Lead and develop a team of workforce analytics and data modelling professionals
- Maintain data catalogue working with data partners to ensure compliance
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, and drive high standards across the team
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Statistical analysis, sensitivity analysis and regression analysis as a minimum
- Ability to extract data using SQL, Python or other analysis tool
- Ability to carry out statistical analysis to obtain insight
