Are you a strategic leader with a passion for data, information governance, and transformation? Do you have the experience and gravitas to take a technology-driven police force on a data journey?

Thames Valley Police & Hampshire Constabulary (TVP/HC) are looking for an exceptional Senior Leader to transform their data capabilities as well as lead and improve their well-established Information Management function.

The Role

This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for shaping the data and information strategy across two large non-metropolitan police forces. You will oversee four key teams that sit across Data & Information Management, ensuring that data and information is effectively governed, maintained, secured and exploited with the appropriate controls and safeguards to drive policing insights and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

People Leadership: Oversee a department of approximately 60 staff and a £3m budget, developing a high-performing team to deliver against strategic priorities.
Strategic Leadership: Drive the transformation of data capabilities across TVP/HC, setting the vision, culture, and policies to enhance data-driven decision-making.
Data & Information Governance: Establish robust governance frameworks, ensuring data is treated as a valuable asset and aligned with national strategies.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor to Chief Officers and Senior Leaders, translating complex data issues into actionable business insights and outcomes.
Compliance & Risk Management: Fulfil the statutory role of DPO, ensuring adherence to data protection legislation, managing risks, and engaging with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Driving Insights & Innovation: Transform raw data into meaningful intelligence, supporting policing strategies, resource allocation, and crime prevention.
Change Management: Lead and sponsor major programmes to develop data services, drive cultural change, and improve operational efficiency.

About You

You will be an experienced data and information leader, with a proven track record of setting up and transforming data capabilities within complex organisations. You must be adept at engaging senior stakeholders, translating technical concepts into business language, and driving cultural change. Experience in data governance, analytics, information security, and compliance is essential, along with a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape.

Key Skills & Experience:

Proven experience in data transformation and governance within a large, complex organisation.
Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
Experience in using data to drive operational improvements and decision-making.
Ability to lead cultural change, ensuring data is valued and embedded within the organisation.

A strategic thinker who can navigate different priorities and organisational structures.
