West Yorkshire Police as the lead Force for the Yorkshire and the Humber Regional Scientific Support Services (RSSS) are looking to recruit a Regional Sample Reception Officer (PACE) to be based at Calder Park, Wakefield.
We need you to provide a comprehensive administrative support function in relation to forensic samples. You will interrogate and update information on a range of technical systems, including the Police National Computer, Socrates and Microsoft packages.
You will be responsible for recording DNA sample submissions and ensuring the integrity of the data in accordance with legislation under the Protection of Freedoms Act (PoFA) and the Police And Criminal Evidence Act (PACE). In addition, you will need to process and package the DNA samples for onward transmission to the Forensic Service Provider ensuring continuity is maintained.
As a Regional Sample Reception Officer you must be able to operate computer databases and record information accurately, have good literacy skills, be able to prioritise your own work load, and work flexibly to ensure efficient DNA processing. A knowledge of relevant PACE and DNA legislation would be an advantage.
Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate must be prepared to provide biometric samples for inclusion on the Central Elimination Databases.
