A rare, exciting job opportunity has become available for a Forensic Video and Audio Examiner based at Police HQ, Devizes, Wiltshire for a part time post of 15 hours per week (7.3 hours on Thurs and Fri). 

Join one of our professional Forensic Video and Audio teams within South West Forensics (SWF). 

We are looking for a dynamic person to join our team to help prepare and provide factual CCTV evidence, protecting victims of crime.

 About the role: 

To provide a Multimedia Forensic Service to the South West Regional Forces.

To recover, edit, redact, preserve, analyse, enhance and report upon multi-media CCTV evidence (digital and analogue) taken or seized from crime scenes, for the investigative and judicial process to evidential standards. To attend crime scenes to recover CCTV evidence and associated equipment.  Install alternative replacement equipment at scenes where required providing enhanced editing and presentation of CCTV evidence for court.

 Main Responsibilities: 

  • Produce audio, still/moving imagery as required, image display products/mediums including electronic mediums of audio, video, digital, computer and conventional photography.
  • Edit, enhance, produce and publish as necessary evidential images and digital video taken at or seized from crime scenes for the investigative and judicial process all to an evidential standard.
  • To attend crime scenes to recover CCTV evidence.
  • To perform various techniques of clarification in relation to both digital and analogue CCTV and audio, view imagery where appropriate, to establish evidential content and relevance to an investigation in order to assist in the detection of crime.
  • Exhibit evidential items for court use, prepare statements, compile written reports and give evidence in court as necessary.
  • Installing loan units into premises and returning/ reinstalling CCTV systems no longer required by the investigation, acknowledging health and safety requirements.
  • To keep abreast of new technology by attending courses, conferences and exhibitions as required.
  • To ensure all appropriate records, registers and inventories are maintained as required to show continuity of evidence and the production of exhibits. Collect, handle and maintain continuity of exhibits.
  • Since October 2023, all CCTV work for court will comply with the Forensic Regulator Act 2021, and work within the laboratories must follow Standard Operating Procedures, all staff would be expected to work under these strict guidelines.

Other information:

Interviews are likely to be held w/c 10th March 2025. 

You will be required to drive around South West Region on occasions and will be required to go to premises to download CCTV.
