Commissioning Manager - Office of Police and Crime Commissioner

If you are an experienced and committed public sector commissioner with a minimum of three years’ experience directly managing and leading staff, then we have just the job for you.

In 2024/25 the OPCC managed a £6.5m commissioning budget putting in place services which reduce crime and disorder and offer support services for local victims and witnesses of crime.

Guided by the commissioning cycle the successful candidate to this new role will provide the day-to-day oversight of this commissioning portfolio ensuring the appropriate governance and outcome frameworks are in place. The provision of effective and trauma-informed support for victims and witnesses will be largest area of the postholder’s overall responsibility along with contributing to the development of the county’s VAWG Prevention approach.

With this in mind it makes sense that the successful candidate has knowledge of the provision of services within the Violence Against Women and Girls ‘VAWG’ sector. This could have been gained through commissioning or delivering services, or partnership working.

This is expected to be a busy yet fulfilling role which will involve significant partnership working with a wide range of stakeholders. It will require the drafting and presenting of reports at local, regional and national meetings, chairing monitoring meetings and carrying out regular site visits – so excellent communication skills are a must.

The rewards are great and include:

  • A starting salary from £46,359.
  • The opportunity to join the local Government pension scheme.
  • Agile working arrangements – you will be able to divide your time between the office base at Cambridgeshire Constabulary Headquarters in Huntingdon and your home, saving petrol and travelling time at least three days a week.
  • A chance to join the Bluelight Staff Discount Scheme – with savings across a wide range of retailers.
  • Peer and professional support from staff performing similar roles across the county through the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners.

There will be a three-part application process which starts with an application form showing how you meet the Entry Requirements as set out in the job description.

Those who pass the shortlisting will be offered a 30-minute interview on Teams on March 19th, 2025 where they will be able to elaborate on how their skills and experience match what is required for this role. The final stage will be a formal in person interview and presentation at Cambridgeshire Constabulary Headquarters on Friday March 21st, 2025.
