ID Bureau Officer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of ID Bureau Officer based within the Force Identification Bureau based at Lloyd House, Birmingham.
The successful candidate will be required to be involved in the completion of identification procedures, predominantly by the use of video images. Whilst based at Lloyd House, the role involves travel across the West Midlands area to Police premises and other force areas. The successful applicant will need to complete Personal Safety Training and pass a driving assessment to drive the department vehicle to deal with prisoners and solicitors within Home office establishments and attend court to give evidence.
The roll deals with confidential matters so the dealing with police officers and suspects must be dealt with in the utmost integrity.
The position incorporates the need to deal with enquiries from police officers and staff, both in person and by telephone, in addition to operating a number of IT systems associated with identification processes which include PROMAPS, Photoshop, Premier Pro and Video Witness, the delivery of training is also a further requirement.
- Suspect image capture at Police premises
- Suspect image capture at various Prison locations across the Force other Force areas using the Identification Bureau vehicle
- Compile Witness Albums to current legislation
- Foil image capture, including use of portable equipment at locations across the Force
- Format and compile Video procedures including “covert” parades and those including the concealment and or replication of distinctive features.
- Conduct Video Witness Viewings, including those requested by external Forces and Agencies at locations across the Force
- Conduct Group Identification procedures at locations across the Force
- Production of Video Identification packages for operational staff
- Completion of relevant statement and reports
- Advise Police Officer and Staff in relation to both technical and legal aspects of the Identification process
- Deliver Identification training to Police Officers and Staff across the Force
- Quality assure images captured by operational personnel
- Ensure that Identification equipment is maintained to a suitable standard at all locations
- Prepare evidence and attend court and give evidence when required
- Management of Digital Interview Recording systems
Essential:
- Computer literate with an understanding of Photoshop
- Good written communication skills
- Interpersonal skills at a high level in a face to face situation with an ability to be assertive.
- Initiative and self-discipline
Desirable:
- It is desirable that the candidate has a working knowledge of PACE Code D and related policy and procedure
- An understanding of Identification software applications eg: PROMAPS
- Ability to work under pressure with competing demands
Essential Skills:
- Has ability to manage own workload, prioritising tasks to enable deadlines to be met.
- Demonstrates a high level of understanding of and commitment to diversity and equality as they relate to staff, colleagues and/or members of the public. Displays respect for the needs and feelings of others
- Driving licence with the ability to drive a transit type vehicle
Desirable Skills:
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Able to provide data, analyse trends and advise accordingly.
- Partnership working experience – internal and external.
The post is currently based at Lloyd House, Birmingham.
The hours of Work will be between Monday to Friday between 0800 – 2100 hours and 1000 – 18:00 Hours at weekends and Bank Holidays on a rota basis
Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
