Salary: Starting Salary £40,910e + £6,710 London Weighting per annum

About the team
The Asset Recovery Team within Specialist Operations is a dedicated team of Financial Investigators specialising in Confiscation on behalf of the force. As National Lead Force for Fraud, we work to provide compensation to victims of some of the largest and most complex frauds in the country.
About the role
As an AFI you will use your part 8 POCA powers to trace assets, analyse financial statements, and execute warrants. You will apply for pre-charge restraint, working closely with the investigation teams and maximise opportunities for confiscation and compensation. You will present your cases at court as the responsible FI on the case.
You will combine this with part 5 powers where appropriate to disrupt criminality.
You will be a NCA accredited confiscator with POCA powers still in use with another organisation, or voluntarily suspended. You may also be a police officer FI confiscator approaching retirement, who is looking for a police staff role.
You will plan and execute POCA warrants, managing your seizures on JARD and any physical property through our POCA processes in line with force policy.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be:
- To obtain orders and warrants in accordance with appropriate legislation and policy.
- Ensure criminally derived assets are forfeited in accordance with legislation and policy.
- Work in partnership with other agencies to prepare, submit and complete casefiles including attending court and presenting evidence and evidential statements.
- Work co-operatively with team members and colleagues, contributing positively and constructively.
- Maintain personal responsibility for gathering, recording, storing, accessing and sharing of information in compliance with policy, procedures and legislation.
Requirements
For this role, you will need the following:
Essential Criteria
- NCA Accredited Financial Investigator with part 2 and part 8.
- Detailed understanding of Proceeds of Crime Act and Criminal Finances Act legislation
- Experience of financial investigation/intelligence techniques
- Experienced in working in collaboration with internal and external departments and partner agencies.
- Takes personal responsibility for maintaining FISS CPD accreditation.
- Competent in the use of FISS, JARD, ARENA or Moneyweb.
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge and understanding of cryptocurrencies and how to investigate them
- NCA Accredited part 5 powers or willing to complete the CRiSP course as part of a development plan.
- Understanding, experience and access to various intelligence systems
- OSINT aware/trained
- Full UK driving licence
