Human Resources Consultant - Full Time - Herts
Are you an experienced HR Consultant looking for a new challenge?
Bedfordshire Police, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Constabularies have two vacancies on a fixed term basis. One role will predominantly support Hertfordshire Constabulary, the other will support BCH collaborated departments, including some of the more specialised areas of policing, for example Major Crime, Armed Policing Unit, Custody and Professional Standards. These are exciting and fast paced roles where you will be working closely with Police Officer and Police Staff managers on a wide variety of complex HR issues.
The role
Reporting to a Senior HR Consultant, you will be responsible for providing our customers with expert HR advice and guidance on a wide variety of employment matters including attendance, conduct, performance, grievances, complex pay matters, contract variations and change management. Every day is busy and different, and you will have ownership of cases from end to end, bringing each case to an appropriate conclusion.

The Herts and BCH HR Consultancy Teams are aligned to the business to establish effective working relationships with departmental managers and the dedicated People Business Partner.
The Person and job entry requirements
To be successful in this role you will…
- be a Level 5 Associate member of the CIPD or have equivalent experience.
- have an in-depth working knowledge of employment law.
- have a proven track record of applying HR policies and providing expert advice to managers on complex case work including Employee Relations matters (e.g. sickness, performance, conduct) and change management (e.g. restructuring, contract variations, TUPE)
- be a confident communicator with the ability to prepare and deliver information and advice to a range of different audiences.
- be customer focussed, innovative in your thinking and collaborative in your approach.
- have an ability to problem solve and fully research complex HR issues.
The Hours
We are currently looking to fill a full time (37 hours per week) and a part time role (30 hours a week). Both roles are on a fixed term basis for up to 12 months.
The location
In HR we recognise the value of an inclusive and diverse workforce. Our department supports the principles of agile working and so there is flexibility within this role for some homeworking.
The full-time role will be based in Hatfield and the part time role can operate form either Godmanchester (Huntingdon) or Hatfield. Please note, however, you will be expected to work flexibly across sites in Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire as the work demands.
Flexible working arrangements will also be considered.
