About the Team
The Spatial & Visual Analytics Team (IMS) has a strong, integrated information management vision in which data analytics plays a big part. The department is focused on supporting the various information needs of the Force and provides services to support public access to information, information security and assurance as well as records and data quality functions.
In addition, the department fosters a culture of specialism and support for front line policing systems, including national, regional and local systems. About the role
The CCTV & ANPR Compliance Officer is tasked with upholding the integrity and legality of ANPR/CCTV operations within our organization. This pivotal role ensures that our use of ANPR/CCTV technology adheres strictly to the Forensic Science Regulator's code of practice, Data Protection Legislation, and any other relevant directives from governmental and parliamentary bodies.
The development of recommendations and the tracking of remediation action plans will be a core element of this role. This role is essential for ensuring that the City of London Police use of ANPR/CCTV technology is not only effective and strategic but also fully compliant with all relevant legal and regulatory standards, thereby supporting our overarching mission of maintaining public safety and operational integrity.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be:
- Vigilantly maintaining the compliance of ANPR/CCTV systems with all relevant legal and regulatory frameworks, thereby safeguarding the force against legal vulnerabilities and enhancing the reliability of our forensic capabilities.
- Actively managing, evaluating, and providing direct support for operational contracts, including the development of recommendations, related to ANPR/CCTV, ensuring these agreements are executed proficiently and align with our stringent compliance and operational standards.
- Championing the effective and compliant use of CCTV/ANPR technologies, facilitating their strategic employment to maximize operational efficiency and adherence to our compliance obligations.
- Contributing to the strategic development of CCTV/ANPR assets, ensuring their growth is fully compliant with existing and foreseeable compliance mandates, and enhancing their contribution to our operational goals.
- Assisting in the facilitation of audits by National Policing, statutory bodies, and regulatory agencies, ensuring complete transparency and adherence to all compliance standards.
Requirements
For this role, we need you to have experience of:
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse video footage and understand complex legal and regulatory documents to ensure compliance.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in monitoring and auditing ANPR and CCTV operations to identify any deviations from compliance standards.
- Legal Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the legal frameworks and regulations pertaining to privacy, data protection, and the use of surveillance technology.
- Industry Standards: Familiarity with industry standards and best practices related to ANPR and CCTV operations, including the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) guidelines.
- ANPR/CCTV Operations: Experience in operating and managing ANPR/CCTV systems, including planning, installation, and maintenance.
- Compliance Management: Proven track record of ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, ideally within a security or surveillance context.
