An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Digital Forensics Unit for a Digital Forensic Analyst to join our expanding team.  In this role you will provide support to police investigations by securing and retrieving data from digital devices in accordance with national guidelines and ISO standards and utilise forensic software and techniques and presenting findings in a format suitable for court.

This role is suitable for digital forensic graduates or those with previous industry training or experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Securing and retrieving evidence from a range of digital services including mobile phones and computers
  • Assisting officers in the execution of search warrants and providing specialist advice and guidance on the correct methods of seizing and removing digital devices
  • Presentations and briefings in support of investigations to officers
  • Attending Court to present findings and evidence in a clear and comprehensible manner.

Skills and experience:

  • QCF Level 6 (degree) relevant qualification or equivalent industry training
  • Understanding of the processes, procedures and best practice guidance underpinning the examination of digital devices
  • An awareness of different digital device operating systems
  • Experience of dismantling/assembling computers and digital devices, maintaining accurate contemporaneous notes.
  • An awareness of Forensic hardware and software
  • Be familiar with relevant digital forensic guidelines and legislation, including the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, Principles of Human Rights, Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act
  • Ability to adapt to the use of new technology systems and software
  • Experience of report writing

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
