This position offers an exciting opportunity to support the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC) for Essex and their deputy in holding Essex Police and the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service to account, in order to ensure that the people of Essex receive excellent services and our communities are kept safe.

 

The successful applicant will provide comprehensive, professional, efficient and effective support to the PFCC and their deputy. Duties will include the management of busy schedules, proactively preventing commitment conflicts and identifying options and recommendations to resolve any issues emerging.  They will act as the first point of contact into the Commissioner’s office for members of the public, partners and stakeholders, and be required to maintain the security and confidentiality of information and files in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Government Security Classifications. The successful applicant will be required to triage a high volume of correspondence daily, ensuring that it is logged, acknowledged and responded to in an appropriate and timely manner, and to provide administrative support to key governance boards as required.

 

The successful candidate will have significant experience of providing PA support at a senior level as well as demonstrating strong computer literacy, interpersonal and communication skills.  They will be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and to organise the time of both themselves and the PFCC and their deputy according to priorities.

 

The successful candidate will fulfil the requirements of the role with integrity, accountability and commitment, operating calmly and professionally at all times when dealing with colleagues, partner organisations, Essex Police, the Fire and Rescue Service and members of the public.

 

Along with previous PA experience in supporting senior management, within your application please evidence the following skills and / or experience:

  • Time management skills with a demonstrable ability to organise and prioritise the time and activities of self and both the PFCC and DPFCC in accordance with priorities.

  • Ability to adapt and respond quickly and appropriately to conflicting and changing demands whilst remaining calm under pressure.

  • Accurate minute taking, interpersonal skills and communication skills, producing a high standard of written and verbal communication.

  • Knowledge of all Microsoft packages

Please note that appointment to the role will be subject to police vetting and that all posts within the PFCC’s office are politically restricted (as set out in Schedule 16 of Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011). 

 

Essex Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £34,329.00.
