Job Title: Commercial Change and Capability Support
Salary: The starting salary is £47,060, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £44,132 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £52,652 Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) spends over a billion pounds each year on a diverse range of goods and services. We manage commercial activities, ensuring we receive the quality services we are paying for and achieve value for money through the entire life of the contract.
Role Description:
In this role, you will be involved in change and capability work, delivering improvements in capability for the MPS Commercial Services, and the wider MPS. The Change and Capability Team are responsible for communications, the commercial ‘brand’ within and outside of the MPS, and driving improvements in Talent and Performance Management.
In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Change and Capability, supporting on the delivery of:
- Improvements to commercial capability across the MPS, including running your own projects
- The recruitment strategy for commercial services, helping us to attract, develop and retain our talent
- Department wide communications
- Engaging with a wide range of stakeholders across the MPS Commercial team, the wider MPS business and outside of the MPS – including BlueLight Commercial, WorldCC, and the Cabinet Office.
- Improving the Performance Management process within the Commercial team
Key Responsibilities
What does the average day look like?
- Designing and delivering a project to encourage the whole of the MPS to upskill in commercial and contract management
- A meeting with an external stakeholder such as the Government Commercial Function to secure training courses for our people
- Drafting the monthly department wide newsletter
- Checking in on our recruitment campaigns to make sure we are on track
- Pulling together a dashboard on our capability progress
- Coming up with ideas to help us assure that our people have the right skills to deliver savings within our £1bn per annum contract spend
