Intelligence Supervisor - Sergeant (Regional Intelligence Bureau) (SEROCU)
The Regional Intelligence Bureau has recently undergone a restructure which has resulted in the formation of a Development team which are aligned to the Threat Pillars from the SEROCU Control Strategy; Commodities (drugs, firearms SOAC), Vulnerabilities (CSAE, OIC, MSHT), Economic (fraud, money laundering, cyber crime) and Cross Cutting (prisons, professional enablers, Western Balkan criminality).
The role of the RIB Sgt will be to oversee the reviewing and monitoring of intelligence and offences of relevance, identifying emerging cross border series, trends, threats and opportunities across the South East and beyond.
The team will have regional level ‘situational’ awareness in their threat area of responsibility and there will be requirement to provide intelligence summaries and briefing documents to support their aligned Thermatic Delivery Group to better understand the Threat Harm and Risk.
The RIB Sgt will have a role to play as triage capacity for operations which Forces are looking to transfer over to SEROCU. The team may also be used to ‘surge’ SEROCU resources as needed.
A key aspect of the role will be to forge and maintain highly effective working relationships with key personnel in Forces, partner agencies and internal capabilities. Therefore good communication and negotiation skills are essential.
A credible working knowledge of intelligence and covert policing is essential due to the requirement to assess and supervise the IDO’s operational developments. In addition the role will include scoping of potential SOC intelligence development opportunities, therefore an inquisitive and proactive mindset is crucial.
Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vetting level SC / MV together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past five. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
