ERSOU - ROCU - PC/DC DSU - CHIS HANDLER

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen within ERSOU ROCU Dedicated Source Unit for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team.

As a Handler within ROCU DSU you will be responsible for identifying suitable members of the public that are capable of becoming Covert Human Intelligence Sources and have the ability and access to report on some of the Eastern Region's most serious criminals and Organised Crime Groups.

The use of CHIS to infiltrate organised crime groups is a well-established and legitimate tactic in the fight against serious and organised crime.

The unit is focused on regional priorities and current ERSOU investigations with the objective of gathering intelligence against those individuals and organised crime groups engaged in serious criminality and presenting the greatest threat, risk and harm in our region.

The unit will operate from a discreet premises within the region, and agile working is also undertaken within the team. The successful applicant must be willing to travel and work away from their current force area when required to do so. There is also a requirement to be flexible around duty times as well as being part of a call out rota.

Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the East region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of vital importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC. In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
