We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as a Data Analytics Graduate in our Joint Data Analytics Project. Could you be who we are looking for?
The Joint Data Analytics Project (JDAP) has been established to deliver a cutting-edge advanced data analytics function for both South Wales and Gwent Police. This includes the implementation of a cloud-based data platform and a specialist Data Office to deliver ongoing solutions and innovation. The team sits within the South Wales Police Corporate Services Department.
The graduate role will transition from JDAP to the Data Office once it has been established.
About the role and your key responsibilities:
The role will:
- Help develop and deliver a specialist advanced data analytics service, encompassing the engineering, science and visualisation of data to provide increased understanding.
- Assist with the development of insight delivery systems that provide automated non-technical answers to complex policing questions, ensuring legal, ethical and security compliance.
- Work closely with the cloud computing team to ensure the effective implementation of a cloud-based platform as the delivery mechanism for advanced data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
- Apply a broad range of techniques for analysis, modelling, interpretation and visualisation of data.
What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:
- An understanding of data analytics, machine learning and Artificial intelligence, including proficiency with tools such as Power BI.
- Understanding of statistical and machine learning techniques.
- Proficiency in coding languages such as Python, R and Java.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure including knowledge of architecture, deployment models and services.
- Experience with Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes.
- An understanding of the legal, ethical and security considerations of using advanced data analytics to inform police decision making.
- The ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
