Community Events Team Volunteer

Vacancy Information

Are you passionate about helping your community and making a positive impact?

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to join our Community Events Team to represent our Force at events across the county throughout the year.

Chief Constables' Message

We really welcome your interest in joining our Police Force. It is a privilege to lead the teams in Surrey Police and Sussex Police who continuously work selflessly and tirelessly in order to keep people in our counties safe.

We are looking for talented and inspirational people who put the needs of the public at the heart of everything that they do and who want to make a difference. If you feel you are that person then we want to hear from you.

We wish you all the very best with your application.

Chief Constable Tim De Meyer & Chief Constable Jo Shiner

The Role & Key Responsibilities

This volunteer role offers you the opportunity to join a friendly team dedicated to positively engaging with Surrey's communities. You will attend events across the year and the county, volunteering alongside your team members, police officers and staff, to provide information and reassurance to the public.

This is a flexible role, which means that you can volunteer at the events which are most convenient for you. At the start of each event, you and the team will set up the stand ready to engage with the public. Throughout the event, you will engage with the public, offering information, advice and force merchandise. You will help with activities aimed at children and young people, including fingerprinting of bookmarks and trying on police uniform. At the end of the event, you and the team will pack everything away ready for the next event! Before you apply for this role, please bear in mind that you will spend quite a lot of time on your feet at events, so it can be physically tiring.

If you're ready to make a lasting impact and help strengthen relationships within the community, we want to hear from you!

Skills & Experience

Your enthusiasm and flexible approach will help you to integrate into the team and volunteer alongside others to support community events. You will need to have great communication skills to enable you to engage confidently with members of the public from across our communities.

Previous experience of volunteering, community engagement and/or working within police environment would be beneficial, but this is not essential as you will be supported by experienced members of the Community Events Team.

Why Volunteer With Us?

We take pride in looking after our volunteers, through volunteering you will have the opportunity to:

  • Experience policing first-hand
  • Meet new people and teams
