The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key ResponsibilitiesThis is an exciting time to be involved in recruitment with recent national and local uplifts in funding allowing Surrey Police to recruit more Police Officers and specialist staff. As an Assistant you will gain valuable experience in a wide range of processes from the basic administration level, moving up to understand and advise on the policies and law that underpin these processes.
You will join a team that oversees the administration for the recruitment of bulk campaigns within Surrey Police such as Police Officers, PCSO’s as well as the administration for external staff recruitment and internal staff moves. You’ll be responsible for providing administrative support, responding to queries and giving basic advice to candidates and customers. Using a range of systems, including Talentlink and Oracle HRMS, your duties will include:
- Co-ordinating the administration processes in relation to one or more bulk recruitment campaigns from the initial advert to hiring on HRMS and on-boarding
- Co-ordinate, arrange and allocate recruitment appointments such as interviews and pre-employment check appointments.
- Respond to candidate queries via telephone, email and face to face, providing advice and guidance to provide a quality candidate experience.
- Assess candidates against set criteria at relevant recruitment stages and proceed and reject them accordingly.
- Access and maintain recruitment records in relation to selection processes in line with procedures.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of processes, procedures and work instructions in line with organisational priorities, best practice and legislation.
The role is advertised as a 1 year fixed-term contact.
Skills & ExperienceYou will need:
- excellent customer service skills
- attention to detail
- excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
- administration experience
- a good level of literacy and numeracy
- CIPD is desired but is not essential for the role, as is previous experience in a HR and/or Recruitment environment
- The ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.
- Microsoft Word and Excel skills are essential, and it is desirable to have experience in using Talentlink and Oracle HRMS.
The Attraction and Recruitment Team work in an agile nature that will include the need to work at Headquarters (Guildford).
