Met Business Services (MBS) is a new way for the Met to deliver enabling services to all of our officers and staff. MBS is a front-line focused services organisation that sets our people up to succeed, reduces admin, and provides a single source of truth for all HR, Finance and Commercial data, providing a critical cornerstone to fix our foundations.
MBS will help every person and supplier working with the Met by:
- Building a modern and efficient industry-standard business services directorate, building and pooling key specialist capabilities, strengthening HR, Finance and Commercial functions whilst removing functional silos.
- Designing end-to-end services, building them the needs of the users rather than in functional process silos and seamlessly integrating them regardless of how they are delivered; and
- Providing easy-to-use interfaces and ‘one-touch’ services for end-users that leverage the potential of contemporary technologies like automation and low-code workflows.
This is an exciting time to be part of MBS – we are building new capabilities and new ways of working that will directly help the frontline to focus on what matters and make a real difference to London. The Met as a whole is transforming to deliver on our goals of More Trust, Less Crime and High Standards, and being part of establishing this new organisation puts you at the heart of that journey with tremendous potential for growth both within the team and across the Met. The value and purpose of MBS is wired into the heart of the Met, with opportunities to collaborate across the organisation, drive innovation to get the right outcomes and support our people in policing London.
As the Met delivers its strategic plans (e.g. New Met for London), MBS will be a key enabler in ensuring services delivered are streamlined, innovative, front-line focussed and inclusive. The Talent Acquisition Lead will report into the Head of Talent Acquisition, who is responsible for providing the in-house resourcing components of the end-to-end Joiners service, from the emerging need to fill a post, via recruitment and selection, through to setting the new joiner up for success until they are productive in their role operating across the boundaries of functions and OCUs/BCUs.
This role is designed to oversee and deliver officer and staff recruitment, with our shared service provider, for the Metropolitan Police Service. Areas of focus include:
- Ensuring MPS recruitment services are modern, streamlined and customer centric, to attract and secure talent in a competitive and demanding environment.
- Ensuring improved levels of representation across MPS (particularly female and BAME staff).
- Maintaining optimal capacity levels across the organization, working collaboratively with colleagues across MPS (e.g. Workforce Planning, Learning & Development, Vetting Unit, Supplier Assurance Function) and other third parties to ensure that resourcing plans meet corporate workforce requirements.
- Supporting leaders across MPS in managing recruitment risk, using deep knowledge of MPS policy, relevant UK employment legislation and national policing guidance/ regulations.
- Building the Met’s talent pipeline, ensuring we have high-quality candidates to fill key positions in a timely manner. This requires a deep understanding of the factors affecting recruitment at scale and pace in the London market.
- Acting as resourcing expert and business partner to support recruitment activity across the business, such as direct sourcing, advice on assessment approach and offer negotiations.
- Providing recruitment expertise and acting as point of contact for escalation and problem solving.
