•    Integrity and Professional standards (including police conduct and vetting)
•    Major Operations (including DVI, casualty bureau and major incident debriefing)

You are not expected to have an in-depth knowledge of all of these areas, but you will be able to lead and develop those who are subject matter experts within the College to set standards, share good practice and support professional development. An ability to collaborate well with others at a national/strategic level is a critical part of this role. You will:

•    Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure the continued development of relationships that enable the College to be connected and relevant to operational policing. This will include effective collaboration with those inside and outside of policing, including NPCC leads and senior Government officials.
•    Ensure that the College is dynamic and responsive to changes in the operational context for policing.
•    Provide professional leadership, direction and vision to the teams that you lead.

Person specification

Some of your responsibilities will include:
•    Scanning the external environment to keep up to date on policing trends and legislative changes. Identifying solutions to policing problems and supporting forces to achieve consistent standards across policing.
•    Scoping, planning and managing College resources to deliver for policing in an effective and timely way.
•    Implementing strategic prioritisation processes to manage competing demands and scarce resources, both within the College and externally.
•    Representing the College at strategic and operational levels.  Building strong relationships and supporting strategic stakeholders in delivery of national standards.
•    Ensuring innovative delivery of national products for guidance.  This will reflect changes to legislation and will focus on knowledge sharing and operational advice.

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

•    Recent and relevant strategic experience in policing.
•    The ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels and work collaboratively to achieve objectives
•    The ability to effectively challenge, influence, engage and inspire others across policing to ensure the right outcome is achieved.
•    Consistent demonstration of high professional standards and the policing values.
