Role purpose:
To provide a response to calls for service in order to prevent or detect offences, preserve life, keep the peace and enhance the quality of life of the community. To work as part of the PVP team involved in the investigation and the detection of crime ensuring that harm is prevented and ensuring that the welfare of Vulnerable people is paramount consideration at all times. The post holder will be responsible for partnership risk management and information sharing within Humberside Police. They will report to the Vulnerability Managers and manage strategy discussions, information sharing and partnership meetings relating to children and Vulnerable adults. They will take the lead in managing the Pit Stop process and identifying themes/trends to direct early intervention and preventative work within Humberside.
Role Responsibility:
- Maintaining information systems for vulnerable children and adults coming to police notice or potentially at risk and ensuring data quality is of a consistently high standard.
- Liaising with partner agencies to ensure that efforts to safeguard vulnerable people and manage offending behaviour are undertaken in a holistic way, ensuring that the needs of the victim are at the heart of the process and that all elements of risk are managed effectively.
- The provision of accurate, relevant and timely advice to officers.
- Ensuring that risks to the Force/Command which may affect its ability to provide business as usual now or in the future are identified and escalated to their line manager or local Risk Champion at the earliest opportunity;
- Responsible for using the NDM and THRIVE model in all actions undertaken.
- As a member of Humberside Police you will accord with the Standards of Professional Behaviour, as outlined in the Code of Ethics, at all times.
- Accesses, researches and maintains relevant force information systems used within the PVP Unit, utilising information and intelligence to ensure that opportunities to safeguard individuals and manage offending behaviour are maximised, ensures that data quality on the appropriate systems is kept to the highest standard, taking remedial action as appropriate
- Maintains a high level of knowledge and understanding of legislation, Force policy and ACPO guidelines and procedures in relation to the investigation.
- Liaises with and develops co-operative relationships with other agencies concerned with safeguarding and vulnerable person’s welfare.

Eligibility criteria:
You must meet all the below eligibility criteria in order for your application to be considered for shortlisting:
Have been in your current post for a minimum of 12 months, unless this was a forced posting.
Have passed week 75 of the student learning programme.
Substantive of rank of the post you are applying for.
- If successful, further checks will be conducted such as attendance, vetting and PSB.
Exceptions apply to Eligibility Criteria in the following circumstances:
- Movement within the officer’s current section i.e., change of location.
- A short-term abstraction where the officer has returned to their original post.
- Where an officer has less than 12 months service in their current role but they were posted into this role by the Force rather than of their own application/choosing.
- Where a post has a specific skill set, requiring specific training, and the officer wishing to apply holds the required skills/training. This would require Line Manager and SLT sign off with an explanation noting the necessary detail in order for the Talent Acquisition Team to ensure the individual is considered for shortlisting.
Is the role you're applying for PiP2?
Any constable that is successful for a PiP2 Post will automatically be added to the detective pathway and an expectation that they sit and pass the NIE, the PiP2 course and complete the PiP2 portfolio.
DCs who hold PiP2:
Posts within the crime pillar but not PiP2 required, there is an expectation that DCs maintain their PiP2 accreditation if successful in post.
Non-crime posts, DCs may wish to keep their CPD up to date if they wish to maintain their PiP2 accreditation. If it lapses and you wish to return to a PiP2 post in the future you may be required to sit the course again and complete the portfolio.
