Salary scale 4 £26,106 - £28,653

West Yorkshire Police is looking to recruit a Safety Camera Maintenance Officer to join its Central Prosecution & Casualty Prevention Unit based in Bradford.

As an integral part of the Camera Enforcement team, you will work independently to maintain camera assets across West Yorkshire, working alone in a designated vehicle. This role is part officed based and part public facing role.

After relevant training, you will have the ability to work with back-office camera systems and perform drive through site checks, dealing with relevant calibrations certificates and ensuring all equipment is fit for purpose, you will be required to keep meticulous records.

You will be required to ensure that all signage in relation to speed camera enforcement is in place and compliant with guidance and legislation and take appropriate action where necessary.

You will support the Judicial process by presenting expert evidence at Magistrates and Crown Court in relation to all areas of Safety Camera assets.

To be considered, you will have similar experience of working in a public facing role, a proven understanding of computer applications such as MS Office, and a working knowledge of relevant common operating systems such as MS Windows.

You will be required to complete a manual lifting and handling course, a health and Safety electrical course as well as hold a full current UK Manual driving licence (Automatic licence is not applicable) and the ability to travel for business purposes. Due to the nature of the role, you must have the emotional resilience to deal with challenging situations.

Working arrangements are 37 hours per week, you will be required to work unsupervised. The work pattern is Monday to Friday office-based hours, working on a flexitime pattern.

Relevant training will be given in the operating procedures relating to type approved speed detection devices linked to recording equipment, camera devices, and associated requirements. You must therefore possess a basic understanding of speed legislation and the Highway Code. Some technical knowledge would be an advantage in this role.
