Permanent Contract

Full Time

Salary: £48,894.00 to £54,879.00

The main purpose of the role is to operate the Service Asset and Configuration (SACM) practice for Warwickshire Police with the responsibility for maintaining proper information about Configuration Items (CIs) required to deliver IT services and maintain a logical model, containing the components of the IT infrastructure (CIs) and their associations which includes hardware infrastructure (network, hosting and security on premise and cloud), end-user devices, and software.

 

Ensure the provision of an efficient and effective system administration support team executing organisational policies defined in Information Security Management for granting authorised users the right to use a service, while preventing access to non-authorized users and owning and managing the Digital Services software library

 

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

To provide the immediate management ownership for force wide asset related queries, determining and prioritising the immediate actions necessary and resources required

 

To support the drive of the development the SACM strategy and roadmap, supporting the design and implementation the SACM processes and procedures, including driving the requirements in tooling to support the process

 

To ensure the asset tagging of all digital services equipment purchased and delivered. Ensure the movement or transportation of Assets to appropriate storage areas and accurate recording of such Assets on the inventory including year-end stock take, including managing stock levels

 

To act as the Service Integrator managing service tower suppliers for services, software and assets within their area of responsibility

 

To be responsible for maintaining the Digital Services Software Library including management of distribution, usage standards and registration procedures, including maintaining information and production of reports on internal systems and external supplier portal systems

 

To promote an environment of innovation and continuous improvement across the team, including proactive asset management and control including trend analysis (and ensuring corrective action is taken), to include review of processes and procedures to ensure standards are maintained and improved

 

To adhere to recognised, proportionate and pragmatic good DS support practice (incident management, problem solving, customer service, etc.).

 

Within all IT environments, manage the ITIL configuration management process for the management of all configuration items in their various states including the state of assets such as products, systems, software, facilities and people as they exist at specific points in time, and the relationship between all assets

 

To be responsible for recording and reporting of all equipment warranty details.  Maintain the lifecycle and applicable asset information for new, changed, and retired hardware and software

 

To ensure all Hardware and Software asset information is accurate and is updated in the Service Management system including disposals

 

To be responsible for all mobile devices activations, deactivations and data usage ensuring compliance with policies and procedures

 

To be responsible for the preparation for and response to vendor audits and software true ups, including periodic audit reports to ensure compliance with policy and standard

 

To provide recommendations to Management on process improvements and optimisation opportunities promoting the drive for continuous process improvement, including the analysis of mobile phone and laptop usage for data and voice as well as asset (hardware and software) usage

 

To be responsible for maintaining the Digital Services Software Library including management of distribution, usage standards and registration procedures, including maintaining information and production of reports on internal systems and external supplier portal systems

 

To be responsible for completing insurance claim forms for damaged DS equipment, arranging collections and deliveries of damaged/repaired equipment in relation to Insurance claims and any audits required for insurance purposes, or otherwise

 

To actively participate in meetings both representing Digital Services at corporate meetings, supplier meetings and at Digital Services technical meetings providing input relevant to area of business

 

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required

 

 

Knowledge:

Digital Services (Level 5) professional qualification


ITIL foundation certificate in IT Service Management, or similar


Significant working knowledge of relevant Digital Services technologies, their use and application


Excellent all-round Digital Services knowledge, including proficiency in the use of e.g. Microsoft packages and ITSM management tools


Excellent understanding of Digital Services service delivery environment and its priorities


Understanding of procurement processes within a public sector environment

 

 

Experience:

 

Experience of implementing or maturing SACM within a medium to large organisation

 

Experience of chairing meetings and giving presentations

 

Experience of creating and improving SACM and Licence Management processes and integrating with other ITIL processes

 

Experience of enabling SACM process through IT Service Management Toolsets

 

Experience of IT Service Management system software

 

Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle

 

Experience liaising with suppliers on more complex incidents and problems

Ability to manage 3rd party suppliers, ensuring service levels are met
