About the team/Department you will be joining:
You will be joining a dynamic team within Corporate Finance, with responsibility for delivering all aspects of the following functions:
- Payroll
- Pensions
- Accounts Payable
Hybrid working arrangements are currently in place within the team, with 1 to 2 days a week based in South Wales Police Headquarters, Bridgend and the rest of the week, working from home. Additional office-based days may be required throughout the probationary period for training purposes.
The full-time working hours are 37 per week. We operate a flexible working policy with consideration given to business needs, customer service and deadline related tasks when planning our working week.
About the role and your key responsibilities :
You will be joining a team of experienced technicians who are responsible for the delivery of all operational aspects of Payroll, Pensions and Accounts Payable services and functions in compliance with legislation, policy, procedure and audit recommendations. You will ensure that all weekly and monthly deadlines are met and that all relevant annual returns are delivered accurately and on time.
With payroll and pension regulations and legislation under regular review, managing change will be a key part of the role. Working with our team managers and in partnership with the Digital Services team, you will ensure our systems are maintained and developed to the highest level of integrity.
You will also be responsible for continuous review of our internal processes and procedures and identify opportunities to streamline or automate working practices where possible.
What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:
It is essential that you have experience of working in a Payroll, Pensions and/or Accounts Payable department and have excellent knowledge of payroll and pensions legislation. Experience of Police and/or LGPS pensions schemes would be beneficial but not essential.
Experience of coordinating, planning, testing and implementing system and process change is also key to the role.
As a senior member of the team, well-developed analytical skills and able to demonstrate an ability to understand complex payroll, pensions and accounts payable issues is required.
