HR Business Partner - Hybrid

About the role:
As a HR Business Partner, you have a critical role, in shaping and implementing people strategies and ensuring that our people are at the heart of Avon and Somerset Police. Being the interface between HR and the business is an exciting, stretching, and wide-ranging job. The HRBP role will provide you with an invaluable opportunity to see the impact HR has on improving organisational outcomes.
Our HRBPs have exposure across the whole range of HR activity, while at the same time leading on the people agenda for the area they partner, as well as organisational wide people practices. This makes the role so interesting; no two days are the same and being a part of the success of the teams you partner brings fantastic job satisfaction, knowing you are contributing to delivering outstanding policing for all.
About you:
You’ll be used to working in a complex and fast paced environment with experience of problem solving and developing innovative people solutions. You will be confident and skilled in influencing, acting as a ‘critical friend’ and coaching leaders and their teams to enable them to achieve their people aims.
In this role, your main responsibilities will be:
- Developing and implementing business specific people strategic, consultative services and advice to leader to build organisational and people capability.
- Influence, support, and coach leaders on all People matters, to ensure a high quality and consistent delivery of People services.
- Challenge and advise leaders on the research, design and development of People initiatives and solutions to ensure a high performing organisation, a modernisation of working practices and support for continuous improvement.
- Analysing effective people management information and metrics, key trends, and predictive data to provide people solutions to the business to address opportunities for service improvements.
- Influence and facilitate organisational development and change initiatives to drive through the change agenda and people strategies.
- Lead on key people projects and programmes of work as they arise in support of the People strategy.
Skills, experience, and qualifications required:
- Chartered Member of CIPD (MCIPD) or have relevant HR experience. If you have relevant HR experience, then willingness to work towards CIPD within 2 years.
- HR experience of leading high-profile people programmes of work including consultation and negotiation with Trade Unions, Staff Associations and Senior Managers.
- Demonstrate creativity and innovation in a complex environment.
- Knowledge of HR strategies and policies and how to interpret and implement.
- Experience of communicating complex HR information to managers/leaders in a meaningful way and suggest pragmatic people solutions.
- Ability to work with Senior Managers to identify challenges and use the relevant expertise, strategies, and tools from across the P&OD function to drive improvements.
- Able to meet deadlines, prioritise workloads and work independently.

Shortlisting will take place week commencing 28th April 2025.

This role is ‘blended’ meaning that the majority of your working time will be spent working from home with the expectation of travel across Avon and Somerset when required.
