Salary: The starting salary is £58,310, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.
The salary is broken down as £55,469 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £60,507. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Metropolitan Police Service's Digital Forensics (DF) team as a Senior DF Specialist - Quality. DF is having achieved accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 (2017) along with the Forensic Science Regulator’s Code of Practice in certain areas but are working towards extension to scopes in a number of additional forensic science activities. We are looking for a driven, flexible, and enthusiastic individual to provide technical direction within our Digital Quality Team.
Digital Forensics has three levels of service to provide examinations of digital devices at the most appropriate level of complexity: Self-Service Kiosks at over forty locations; twelve Digital Forensic Hubs; and the Central Laboratory where advanced casework, training and research and development activities are undertaken. Accreditation is sought across all three levels and at all sites.
The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge and awareness of all the specialisms within Digital Forensics (e.g. Audio, Cell Site Analysis, Computer Systems, Embedded Systems, Mobile Devices and Video), and in addition will have a deeper knowledge and practitioner experience in at least one of the specialisms. A strong knowledge of Quality Management and an experience in implementing a Quality Management System will also be essential.
The successful candidate will work with the Quality Management Unit (QMU) to design a programme to achieve Accreditation to all the required Forensic Science Activities and will be instrumental in delivering the programme. Once fully accredited across all required disciplines the successful candidate will work towards improving processes and supporting individual teams with surveillance visits.
The role has line management responsibilities for a DF Specialists and Technicians. Whilst line management experience is desirable, it is not essential, the focus on the role is digital forensic practitioner experience and experience in quality management. This is not a traditional Quality Manger role; skills and experience in Digital Forensics are required for its successful implementation.
Upon appointment the successful applicant will be required to provide a DNA sample for inclusion in the Staff Elimination database.
