DFU Investigator
The post holder will be required to undertake data recovery and analysis within the local force area and provide evidentially sound technical support to officers and staff who are investigating all aspects of digital crime including computers and mobile devices.
The role requires applicants who can demonstrate (with evidence) skills in the following areas:-
- Educated to HNC or equivalent level in Computer Science, Forensic Computing, or related subject; or possess an equivalent amount of relevant proven experience and understanding of the telecommunications industry.
- Knowledge of different mobile and digital storage devices.
- In depth knowledge of Information Technology and computer networks.
- Ability to disassemble/assemble digital devices e.g. laptops, computers etc.
- Knowledge of DOS, Windows, Unix/Linux, Apple Mac operating systems.
- Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to undertake personal study.
- Excellent communication skills in order to convey technical information in a manner understandable to the audience.
- Ability to manage own time to maximise performance.
- Demonstrate a professional and structured approach to problem solving and resolution.
The Digital Forensic Unit will be holding an opening evening on Tuesday November 12th 2024 at 6pm in St Asaph Divisional Headquarters (LL17 0HQ). This is a great opportunity if you are interested in applying for the role and would like to know a little bit more about the role, the department & the recruitment process.
It is recommended that you attend the opening evening before completing the application form so that you have all the necessary information to do so.

The opening evening will consist of a tour of DFU, an input into the role, a discussion on the recruitment process and a Q&A session. We ask that no guests are brought to the event.
