An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Digital Forensics Capability for a Quality Manager to lead on digital forensic accreditation for Hertfordshire. You will be based within the Serious & Organised Crime Group and manage a Quality Department. The department oversees implementation of quality standards across all digital forensic units. The role holder will be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of a quality management system that complies with ISO17025, ISO17020, ILAC-G19, the Forensic Science Regulators Statutory Code of Practice. You will also lead on implementation & compliance with other relevant Police legislation and regulations.

You will be responsible for ensuring compliance and continuous improvement in digital forensic activities. You will lead on an audit program and train and oversee a team of auditors. You will be responsible for all non-conforming work, conducting investigations, root cause analysis, setting and verifying corrective actions and effectiveness reviews of actions taken including escalating significant quality failures to UKAS and the Regulator. You will have governance over all policies and procedures within the management system. You lead annual UKAS assessments and extension of the existing scope of accreditation to include all forensic activities within digital services.

You will manage a Quality Department leading on staff training and development. You will generate and disseminate knowledge, quality briefings and best practice and deliver training related to quality principles to forensic personnel.

Digital forensics is an area of rapid growth and change. This is a very challenging but exciting environment, and you will be instrumental in supporting digital units by leading on quality matters and influencing change in a tactful and ethical manner.

The role holder will be proactive and work effectively with minimal supervision. You will work closely with leads within forensic units and the Senior Accountable Individual. You will build effective working relationships and communicate well with others including stakeholders. You must proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, Visio, Teams & SharePoint to develop and maintain content.

The successful candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience of working to ISO17025 quality standard and conducting audits & assessments within a scientific or forensic environment. It is desirable that the candidate have experience of developing and implementing a management system with thorough knowledge of the Forensic Science Regulators Codes of Practice.
