Salary: £40,910 plus £6,710 London weighting per annum

About the team

Corporate Services supports the business needs of the entire organisation, from people services and professional standards to corporate communications and our change portfolio team, finance, health and safety services and our estates and support services.

About the role

The health and safety business partner supports the organisation by providing assurance, operational support and guidance working with risk owners across City of London Police to develop local arrangements and maintain compliance with the Force’s health and safety management system.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be:

  • Provision of proportionate, technical health and safety risk management advice with the ability to interpret information where issues are complex or conflicting considering a number of factors.
  • Solutions focused approach, assisting risk owners develop and manage health and safety arrangements within their areas of responsibility.
  • Monitoring compliance the organisation’s health and safety management system; conducting pro-active and reactive monitoring activities including oversight of the organisation’s health and safety incident reporting system and supporting line managers undertake incident investigations.
  • Assist in the design and facilitation of training courses and toolbox talks.
  • Establish an extensive network of collaborative and respectful relationships in order to deliver a professional service and encourage a positive safety culture.

Requirements

For this role, we need you to have experience of:

  • You will be enthusiastic, with a flexible approach and the ability to manage your workload, prioritising competing and sometimes urgent demands.
  • You will hold a level 6 qualification in health and safety, or be working towards this and be TECH IOSH or above depending on qualifications and experience. You will have experience of working in a health and safety role in policing or other complex organisation with a varied risk profile.
  • We will consider all people who are currently close to obtaining a level 6 health and safety qualification (within the next 6 months) who are able to demonstrate they meet the requirements of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.

Selection Process

As part of the initial application process, you will be asked to evidence how your experience, skills, and knowledge demonstrate your ability to meet the person specification of the role.

The application and interview will be tested under Level 2 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.

Applicants who fail to address the skills/knowledge/experience of the job description will not be considered.

The closing date for applications is 4th February 2025

Following shortlisting, successful candidates will be invited to attend a competency-based interview, to be held week commencing 24th February 2025.
