Detective Constable – Dedicated Source Unit

Cleveland Police are looking Constables to join The Dedicated Source Unit. We are looking for Constables who are looking to diversify into a role that will see them maximising the opportunities for addressing Force and LPA intelligence requirements provided by Covert Human Intelligence Sources (CHIS), ensuring that they are managed ethically, with integrity and in accordance with legislation, policy and the National Intelligence Model. We are accepting applications from both existing Cleveland Police Officers as well as substantive Constables wishing to transfer at rank from a Home Office Force. We are currently unable to accept applications from those who have exclusively served with British Transport Police.

The successful applicant should demonstrate an ability to deal with people from a diverse range of backgrounds, showing good communication skills. Knowledge of the legislation in relation to RIPA and CPIA and of covert policing activities and the management of CHIS. The ability to submit intelligence in line with the National Intelligence model using the appropriate gradings (3x5x2) whilst maintaining the required confidentiality, sensitivity, need to know principals and duty of care.
