We are looking for the highest quality officers to join our ranks and opportunities are now open for transferees seeking to join Cleveland Police as a Domestic Abuse Constable. Applications are invited from Detective Constables or Constables who wish to pursue a career as a detective in the Domestic Abuse Unit. Constables will be supported on a career pathway as a trainee detective where they will complete the National Investigators Exam (NIE) within the first year of posting in order to complete the ICIDP.
This is an operational role which can be both challenging but also extremely rewarding. The post holder will be involved in all aspects of investigating domestic abuse incidents from the initial report to attending court. The main responsibilities of the successful applicants will be the investigation of serious, high risk Domestic Abuse incidents, targeting of Domestic Abuse perpetrators and providing support to some of the most high risk victims in the community.
The successful candidate must therefore: -
• Be self disciplined, highly motivated and flexible.
• Must be a competent investigator and be able to conduct a thorough professional investigation in complex serious cases.
• Be able to work jointly with partner agencies to ensure victims are supported and safeguarded.
• Be victim focused and provide support to the victims of domestic abuse and their families.
Successful applicants will be subject to psychological assessment to ensure their own personal wellbeing.
