Salary (£30,783 - £35,982)

The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for the decision making and disclosure element in relation to all disclosure requests such as DBS; Pressing Social Need; Common Law Disclosures etc. and all elements of Civil Disclosure from the public and external bodies which includes legal aid requests.

 

Main Responsibilities:

To manage processing all disclosure requests by application of documented Warwickshire Police procedures which requires taking personal responsibility for risk assessing the relevancy, accuracy and the proportionality of non-convictional, convictional and not guilty information.

To be responsible for the compilation and submission of disclosure files to the Chief Officer Delegate (COD) for authorisation of disclosure.

To be responsible for the decisions relating to non-disclosures.

 

To provide advice and guidance to all Warwickshire Police staff, internal departments and external customers to ensure compliance with relevant processes.

 

To work, as directed by the Disclosure Supervisor, to deliver an effective, high quality service to the organisation.

 

To monitor and evaluate on-going disclosure processes and to advise on decisions.  To highlight any trends, advise and make recommendations on police disclosure procedures and Force Policy.

 

To participate in meetings provide relevant feedback and work as part of the team.

 

To mentor new starters and the training and supervision of the Disclosure Assistant in all areas of Civil Disclosure.

 

To be familiar with and support the aims and objectives of the team, section, department, directorate and organisation.

 

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.

 

Knowledge:

A Level 3, or equivalent, qualification.

An understanding and good working knowledge of disclosure procedures and the relevant legislation.

Knowledge of Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) and statutory code of practice.

Demonstrable evidence of a commitment to personal and professional development.

Desirable:

A working knowledge of police disclosure procedures.

 

Experience:

Experience of co-ordinating disclosure and related processes.

Experience of gathering, risk assessing and analysing evidence in order to make recommendations

Experience of working in a confidential environment demonstrating a high level of personal integrity and discretion when dealing with confidential matters.

Desirable:

Previous experience of co-ordinating disclosure processes within a policing environment.  

 

Key Skills:  

Ability to work to tight deadlines and changing priorities.

Ability to quickly absorb information and understand new disclosure policies and processes.

Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, witness statements and notes of Court hearing. 

Ability to communicate with a wide range of people both verbally and in writing. 

Ability to be flexible, using own initiative and working without direct supervision. 

Excellent IT skills, including the use of databases, spreadsheet applications and computerised resource planning systems.
