Salary: £24,312 - £25,626

Location: Priory Road HQ, Hull

Hours: 37 Hours per week (Full-time)

Contract: Permanent

Humberside Police are looking for a highly motivated individual to join them in their Joint Estate Services team as a Buildings Maintenance Support Officer.

The post holder will be required to perform general driving duties and undertake a broad range of maintenance and handyperson duties, covering tasks surrounding logistics, reactive, statutory testing and planned maintenance. You will also provide support to other departments across the force area under the direction of the Building Maintenance Support Supervisor.

In addition, a significant element of the role with focus around undertaking grounds maintenance work across the joint estate, including grass cutting, weed removal, and maintenance of shrubbery and flower beds.

A full UK driving licence is essential, as occasional travel to other sites within the force area may be required to provide cover.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • General maintenance and handyperson tasks
  • Grounds maintenance work across police sites
  • Logistics and driving duties
  • Statutory testing and planned maintenance
  • Is proactive in the assessment of internal and external building conditions and upkeep, including security measures, taking appropriate action to notify of contractor requirements through the asset management system.
  • Complete building fire safety checks including the testing of fire alarms on a weekly basis and maintaining associated records.
  • Undertakes minor joinery repairs to furniture, fixtures and fittings across police buildings, escalating tasks to seniors when a contractor is required for such duties.
  • Ensuring the safe, efficient and prompt delivery of passengers/loads

What the role requires:

  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Hold a full Department of Transport Licence.
  • Applicants must be able to meet the physical demands of the role, including manual handling and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Experience of working in a confidential environment.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision when required.
  • Carries out tasks in an accurate and methodical manner with an eye for detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.
  • Willing to undertake specific training (grounds maintenance, large vehicles, trailer towing, for example).
