We are welcoming applications for the role of Resource Management unit (RMU) Officer with Devon & Cornwall Police based at the following location(s): Police Headquarters, Exeter 

Salary: Grade 6 - Starts at £32,247 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £35,526 per annum 
Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon and Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same grade.

Type of employment: Fixed Term 

Type of working arrangement: Hybrid Worker -  Hybrid working is a form of flexible working where workers spend some of their time working remotely (usually, but not necessarily, from home) and some in the employer's workspace.

End date of temporary role: 31st March 2026

If you are not currently a police staff employee and are successful for this post, you will be offered a Fixed Term contract.

Please note that internal applicants applying for an internal or external secondment should seek support from their current line manager for their temporary release from their substantive role before applying. External secondment requests will need to be supported by the Force Executive. At the end of the secondment the successful applicant(s) would return to their substantive role. However, if in the meantime the releasing department is subject to review, the successful applicant(s) would be included in that review as if still in post.

Hours per week: this role is 37 hours per week. However we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.

About the role:  

The role of the RMU Officer is to act as a conduit for the quality of work coming into and going out of the RMU to ensure a variety of business areas resourcing demands are being delivered correctly and efficiently.

The officer will receive, assess, triage, and disseminate work to the RMU planners, whilst also picking up more complex enquires themselves. The RMU officer will brief on the Force resourcing picture at Force Daily Tasking, and to Commanders via impact assessments. They are also required to manage any resulting activities. This is achieved via -

  • Managing the day to day working activities within the RMU
  • Attending Force Daily tasking to provide oversight of resources and availability of specialist assets and undertaking any follow up activity
  • Managing requests for resources for operations or events (planned and spontaneous).
  • Quality assurance of work completed
  • Deputising for and supporting the Resource Manager (Police Sergeant)

Undertaking complex, sensitive or business critical activities received into the RMU

Dual working: This role will require the post holder to travel to alternative locations on an ad hoc basis to undertake the role, travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with force policy.

Selection Stage: 

The selection for this role will consist of Shortlisting, Interview.

If successful, you will then be invited to an interview. This will be based on the behaviours outlined within the role profile. The interview process is due to take place week commencing 20 January 2024.

Pre-requisites:
