We are welcoming applications for the role of Alcohol Licensing Administrator with Devon & Cornwall Police based at the following location(s): Hybrid working available, Other the successful candidate would be located at their nearest police station in Devon & Cornwall. Please see below regarding the training location.

Salary: Grade 3 - Starts at £24,675 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £25,626 per annum 
Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon and Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same grade.

Type of working arrangement: Hybrid Worker -  Hybrid working is a form of flexible working where workers spend some of their time working remotely (usually, but not necessarily, from home) and some in the employer's workspace.
Hours per week: this role is 20 hours per week. However we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.
Allowances: This role attracts no allowances.
About the role:  

To provide administrative support to Alcohol Licensing Officers in all matters related to licensable activities and initial telephone advice and guidance to the public in matters relating to licensable activity. In particular to:

Inputting, retrieving and presenting data using a computer:

  • Ensuring that all applications received regarding licensed premises and licensable activities, including L10’s (Licensed Premises Report) and S27’s (Direction To Leave), are input and processed via the licensing IT system
  • Ensuring appropriate scrutiny within legally defined time limits has been completed.

Providing customer service:

  • Resolving any queries regarding lack of information provided by the applicant e.g. on a TEN ascertaining the exact nature of any event is vital in the decision making process
  • Issuing Welcome Packs & Licensing Information Disclosure Agreements (LIDA) for new DPS (Designated Premises Supervisor) applicants.

Providing specialist advice and knowledge:

  • Interrogating PNC/CIS/Video Witness to locate correct image(s) prior to importing on to the Licensing Portal for individuals who are the subject of a Court imposed Drinking Banning Order (DBO) or Exclusion Order (EO). This information is available for the licensing trade to view.

Maintaining records:

  • Maintaining a manual record system of signed LIDA’s.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date user register on the Licensing Portal system complying with Force data protection and information security protocols

This list of duties is not restrictive or exhaustive and the post-holder may be required to carry out duties from time to time that are either commensurate with/or lower than the grade of the post.  In some posts this might include the ad-hoc provision of guidance and informal training of new colleagues. Duties must be completed to meet the needs of the police service.

The Alcohol Licensing Team has a vacancy to join the Administration Team who are predominantly based at Launceston Police Station. Initial training will be based at Launceston. However, this role is not limited to this location and any station within the force area will be considered as the successful candidate's base station.

Dual working: This role will require the post holder to travel to alternative locations on an ad hoc basis to undertake the role, travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with force policy.

Selection Stage: 

The selection for this role will consist of Shortlisting, Interview.

If successful, you will then be invited to an interview. This will be based on the behaviours outlined within the role profile. The interview process is due to take place week commencing 4 February 2025.

Pre-requisites:
