Do you have excellent attention to detail and time to spare? If so, becoming a Greater Manchester Police Fraud Volunteer may be the perfect opportunity for you!

By offering your time and energy in this role you can help us address policing issues, enhance service delivery and strengthen links between policing and the community.

Volunteers in this role would be volunteering in the Trafford and Stockport community.

This volunteer role is for you if you have an interest in fraud and cybercrime and would like help contribute to realising Greater Manchester Police’s vision to ensure that Greater Manchester is a county that is safe and feels safe.

As a Volunteer you will have the opportunity to:

• Join a small and close knit team who work alongside police officers and staff
• Gain an understanding of fraud and cybercrime in terms of criminal law and the many types of fraud that exist
• Build relationships within Greater Manchester Police and see how other departments work and where your own contribution fits within the organisation.
• Learn new transferable skills and gain valuable work experience
• Contribute to contact victims of Fraud and providing them with prevention and protection advise.
• Contribute to community events and spreading the awareness of scams to the Greater Manchester community.

Key Responsibilities

The main responsibility of a Fraud Volunteer will be to support our fraud protect officers in delivering events within the community of Stockport and Trafford where we will provide members of the public with fraud and cyber advice.

Once trained deliver presentations to small groups within the Stockport and Trafford area to raise education on fraud and cyber crime.

Skills & Experience

As a Fraud Volunteer you will need to have great attention to detail and administration skills. You will also need to have good communication skills and be able to work well within a small team.

Additional Information

The hours for volunteering will be between Monday and Friday 8-4pm. There will be an induction programme and training programme provided. Volunteers must be able to volunteer for at least 8 hours per month.

Eligibility

To be eligible for appointment as a Fraud Volunteer:

• You must be a British citizen or a citizen of a country that is a member of the European Economic Area (EEA)or Switzerland. Commonwealth citizens and foreign nationals are also eligible but only if they are resident.in the UK free of restrictions. After 30 June 2021,nationals of the EEA or Switzerland will also need to provide evidence that their stay is free from restrictions. In the context of EEA nationals, we are content that pre-settled status counts as free from restrictions.

• You can apply aged 17 but must be 18 on appointment

• You must be Resident in the UK for 3-years prior to applying

• If you have been out of the country for more than 6-months in the last 3-years, then you will have to provide sufficient information for consideration for us to carry out necessary security vetting checks

• You must be a British citizen, member of EC or EEA, and resident in the UK free of restrictions with an indefinite leave to remain.

• You must have No outstanding County Court Judgments must be satisfied

• If registered as Bankrupt, you will only be considered after 3-years from discharge date

• You must have no visible Tattoos on your Hands, Face, or Neck

• You will Not be considered if you have any convictions for Theft, Dishonesty, Violence, or Public Order Offences

• Drink Driving Conviction – 10-year preclusion

• Driving Without Insurance – 5-year preclusion

• You must have No Cautions or Juvenile Convictions for recordable offences within the last 5-years

• Security roles are a potential conflict of interest so you may not be eligible

Each volunteering experience is different, depending on your skills and personal requirements.
