Special constable recruitment

A special constable is a volunteer police officer. They have the same powers as regular police officers and wear the same uniform, and play an essential role in preventing, reducing, and tackling and crime within the county.

As a special constable you will volunteer your spare time, committing to a minimum of 16 hours per month. The hours can be flexible to fit around your work and home life commitments and you can volunteer more hours should you wish to.

Special constables perform their duties on a part-time voluntary basis, integrating into the wider policing family and making a real difference by ensuring the safety of Lincolnshire and its residents. You will face many different scenarios that will test you more so than ever before, you will protect the vulnerable when they need you the most and you will serve the public by building confidence and trust in the local communities that you serve.

In return, you will receive specialist training and support, develop a wide range of new skills, meet new people and know that you are making a real difference to people’s lives. The experience that you gain as a special constable is invaluable and will provide you with a unique insight into policing and can be a great platform to support your future career development and aspirations.

You will also be entitled to certain allowances, including travel to and from your place of duty, boot allowance and subsistence.

We are so proud of our people who do amazing things every day to serve the public and lead the way in many areas too through their passion, dedication and commitment. We look forward to welcoming you to the Lincolnshire Police family in the years ahead.

If you have been inspired to join the Lincolnshire Police family, apply now.
