    Chief Constable Catherine Roper is looking to appoint into our Assistant Chief Constable position.

     

    As Assistant Chief Constable, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring Wiltshire Police serves all its diverse communities by keeping them safe and preventing crime. As part of the Chief officer Group, you will lead continuous improvements in efficiency and effectiveness by driving performance and demand management, enhancing partnership collaborations and by embedding a culture of organisational learning.

     

    We are looking for someone that can lead by example, with experience in engaging and inspiring the entire workforce in order to deliver a culture that promotes and enables diversity and well being. Your ability to innovate, deliver and demonstrate the corresponding results will be a prevailing feature of your career to-date.

     

    • You will have a demonstrable track record of successfully working at an executive level, ensuring effective and supportive leadership for officers’ staff and volunteers.

    • You’ve the skills and behaviours to foster a culture where our workforce feels valued, listened to and empowered.
    • You will be adept in handling the media, with the necessary depth and breadth of operational experience.

    The Assistant Chief Constable position carries on call responsibilities and as such the holder is required to live within a maximum of one hour travel time to their nearest Wiltshire Police Station.

    Clearance Level for this position is designated MV + DV

    Wiltshire is currently in ‘Engage’ status further to assessment by the HMICFRS in 2022 and as a result you will have a unique opportunity to be part of the COG who will lead the improvement journey. Accordingly, this tailored vacancy seeks to attract current serving Chief Officers (ACC/Commander or above) or recently retired Chief Officers.

    Eligibility Criteria

    • All applicants must have successfully completed the former Senior Police National Assessment Centre (SPNAC) and Senior Command Course (SCC), or
    • Currently undertaking the new Executive Leaders Programme, who would be appointed on a temporary basis before being confirmed as substantive upon successful completion of the new programme.
